Did you try to do this:

 wsconsctl -w map+="keycode 14 = Cmd_ResetEmul BackSpace"

...as I suggested?  It works for me.  After doing that, DEL still
acts as a traditional UNIX rubout, but BS sends ASCII BS, which
prints as ^H (at least in csh).
