It is a complete different card and has not even remotely the abilities
of the other Adaptec cards. IIRC it's just another IDE hostadapter with
a BIOS capable of booting of a RAID volume with a Windows software
RAID device drivers.

If software RAID is ok for you there are cheaper and probably faster
hostadapters. If you want a real RAID controller you'll need
something else.
