That's a common problem especially with old OBP versions. The best solution
is to buy a HME (single port Fast Ethernet) or QFE (four port Fast Ethernet)
SBus card (e.g. on eBay). That won't only speed up the networking but also
solve the boot problem. Just use "show-nets" in the OBP to select the card
which your system is supposed to use for network booting.
