Hi,
got a wifi lan (WG311T and WG511T) which is supposed to support
108Mbit/s (according to cards specs).
when I test some FTP transfers (from FTPserver/PCI to my laptop/pcmcia),
the transfer rate won't go faster than 2M (according to gkrellm ;
1.55 MB/s according to lftp).
server & laptop are both NetBSD 2.0_RC4.
both cards use atheros chipset (ath0).
both are ifconfiged to use mode 11g.
server: media: IEEE802.11 autoselect mode 11g hostap
laptop: media: IEEE802.11 autoselect mode 11g (OFDM18 mode 11g)
dmesg states:
ath0: 11b rates: 1Mbps 2Mbps 5.5Mbps 11Mbps
ath0: 11g rates: 1Mbps 2Mbps 5.5Mbps 11Mbps 6Mbps 9Mbps 12Mbps 18Mbps 24Mbps 36Mbps 48Mbps 54Mbps
wiconfig says :
Comms quality/signal/noise: [ 0 44 0 ]
Quality/Signal/Noise [signal]: [ 0 / 0 / 0 ]
[dBm]: [ 0 / -149 / -149 ]
I suppose noise=0 is good news :)
even if restricted to 54Mbps, I should be able to transfer at about 6.4 Mo/s...
link between server & laptop is done through IPsec (if it ever matters).
so :
* does NetBSD supports 108Mbits ?
* how comes that I don't have 54Mbps transfert rate ?
* is there something to do to force the rate ?
TIA,
Jo
