I use pkgsrc.  And Perl5.8.2.  Rare is the perl pacakge thats
not in pkgsrc that you commonly need.

Me? I sort of have an expectation that my Unix-like OS of choice
has perl installed.  Hell, even Sun figured that out.

That it's not there for Net or FreeBSD is a bit annoying and
embarrassing.  It also means its a big PITA when you have to
add packages and it's defaulting to 5.6.1.  I had to pull
teeth to remove a solid install, upgrade perl, then all the
packages.  It was about worth reinstalling ALL the packages
from the start again.

OpenBSD manages to keep a perl in-tree that's both up to date
and useful.  (sun never updates :(
