Has anyone got TkFax to work on NetBSD, using efax as the backend?

The system I have here (i386, current 1.6ZI) works fine with efax +
efax-gtk, but drop in tkfax for a front-end instead of efax-gtk and my
fax calls all produce that small strip of garbage at the top of the
received page, and nothing else. (This with both of the most recent
versions of TkFax.)
