XFree 4.2.1 (from the netbsd 1.6.1 stable installation). the command doesn't 
output anything. i suspect that the problem doesn't lie in X - the same X config 
works (ie it is possible to switch from X to VT) for setup when serial console 
is not used, but fails for the setup when that console is connected.
