Hi

On a stock 1.6.1, doing some I/O operations such as a tar -x or a cvs update
sometimes hang the machine for 1-10 seconds, and then it carry on working.

While hang, it's still possible to switch among virtual consoles, typing
return will produce a newline, but it's impossible to interract with the
machine beyond that.

The situation is the same with or without soft updates. There is no kernel
messages on the console.

Anyone has already saw that? Any fix or workaround available?
