netbsd-users: setting PIO mode 4 on laptop hard drive and cdrom

According to dmesg, netbsd keeps getting transfer errors and readjusting the 
hard drive and cdrom settings until they settle on PIO mode 4.

I'm using NetBSD 1.6.1 on a Compaq Presario 910US.

1. Should I worry about this?
2. Is there a way that I can set the PIO mode 4 so that the other modes aren't 
attempted?
