-- Hi list,
I cannot start GDM anymore. When I invoke /usr/pkg/etc/rc.d/gdm start, the
X server starts up (the typical X mouse cursor and raster background shows
up), but the GDM greeter does not. Also, when I try to shut down GDM with
/usr/pkg/etc/rc.d/gdm stop, the gdm process does not shut down and the
stop script waits infinitely for the process, repeatedly showing the gdm
process number.
When I start X manually and then try to start gdmgreeter or gdmlogin,
these program tell me, that the version of the greeter does not match the
version of the GDM daemon and that I should reboot the machine, although I
already did that.
These trouble began with the recent upgrade to GDM 2.4.
Does someone else also have these troubles? Any solutions?
