I've got a (year or more old) HP scanjet 2200c that works mostly ok.
Sometimes though I see funny coloring artifacts when I scan with xsane
that don't appear if I scan the same photo under Windows 98 with the
supplied software from HP. The artifacts usually appear on just one
side, so I can put a 6"x4" photo on the side of the scanner and it will
then scan ok. The artifacts have never appeared when scanning A4 text
printouts or bills - only photographs.
It doesn't happen often enough that I've been bothered enough to sit
down and work out exactly what is wrong...
Simon.
