My company is looking at replacing all of our NetWare servers over time
with Samba. We have about 24 branches, each with a file server, and some
of the data on the servers is duplicated. I'm looking at setting up a
big server here at the corporate office, and maintaining a copy of all
data here - saving on backup tapes. Each branch is connected either by
Frame Relay at between 128K and 512K, or VPN over Cable.
What I'm looking at right now is using something like Unison to sync the
servers every night before backup. The Corporate server would keep a
copy of each of the branch-specific data volumes (home directories,
etc), as well as one copy of any common data that all the branches get
(application installers, etc).
Anyone else out there doing something like this?
