Yes, that was what I tried to describe. The problem is that the filtering
happens several layers up in the network stack, and the timestamps can only
be updated after the filtering happened. These upper layers have (and should
not have) any pppoe specific knowledge.

I'll propose this on tech-kern; if it's considered OK implementation is
straight forward.
