I tried the IEEE1394 current source code with my NetBSD1.6.1 kernel and =
then compiled it once again, but the same problem persist.
Do I have to upgrade my kernel to current or something other that can be =
done?

ISTR that it's working in -current but not in 1.6 or 1.6.1. I think I
read that in this mailing list or in the port-i386 mailing list.
