Yes, an option to turn off the pkg suffix would be good.

I dont' recall anyone complaining about defaulting to it install to a
different named examples directory.
I see this as several items, that don't have to be done at same time. We
shouldn't have to wait on changing the default to go to
RCD_SCRIPTS_EXAMPLEDIR?= ${PREFIX}/share/examples/rc.d
This would also involve fixing all the PLISTs that have this hard-coded;
some believe the best solution is to have it automatically added to the
PLIST since the install of the script is automated too. (Some patches have
been provided.)
I Cc'd this to tech-pkg so tech-pkg can agree on the other parts of this
discussion.
