Support for bktr based TV cards is not included in the install
kernel, but in the GENERIC kernel. For your personalized kernel
you need this in your config file:

# Brooktree 848/849/878/879 based TV cards
bktr* at pci? dev ? function ?
radio* at bktr?

The output of dmesg will really help identifying the problem. If
you're out of luck, your TV card is not Brooktree 848/878 based.
