You should probably only consider running modern applications on modern
hardware. Obviously if you compare apps that run "fast" on a P133 to
something like KDE3, then KDE3 looks like a big slow pig.
Run it on a > 1Ghz cpu with 512MB+ and a fast drive. You'll notice a
significant difference.
But... If you're not willing to throw hardware at these new Operating
Environments, you should probably stick with simple window managers,
XF86 3.3, etc.
