wondering if anyone had seen this behaviour with wget 1.8.2?

=2E.. basically I don't seem to be able to get wget to recurse into
index.html when it is downloaded via FTP ... HTTP works fine, however I
then also get all the *?[FDS]=3D[AD] 'files' from the default Apache index
pages (which I don't seem to be able to use --reject to remove, either)
I'd prefer to stick with FTP if possible ...
I am able to download other files from a different machine with an older
version of wget using the same arguments as above (using wget 1.7nb1)
any ideas?
