I was attempting to update my Compaq Proliant 800 from 1.5.2 to 1.6.

I FTPed down the distro and copy/expanded the netbsd.INSTALL.gz file from
binary/kernel/ to the / partition.
I rebooted and from the boot console >boot netbsd.INSTALL

All devices seemed to be detected fine but just after the mfs was created I
got...

init: Creating mfs /dev
NMI ..going to debugger
stopped in pid 11 (sh) at 0xc0277bb0 repe movsl (%esi),%esi(%edi)

I tried the netbsd.INSTALL_SMALL.gz and it boots to the install menu just
fine, but the Symbios Logic 53c875 (ultra-wide scsi) isn't supported
(bummer).

I will try the CD install and see if I have more luck there...
