You might find some information from IBM at 
http://service.boulder.ibm.com/storage/hddtech/ibmftool_userguide.pdf , 
although this may be a strictly ATA disk utility.  Searching for clip in 
the Ultrastar 36LZX spec comes up with the SCSI command to change the drive 
size but I don't know how you would send that command to the drive...
