So it's got a CPU running actual code. Hence, not an X Terminal, but
rather a PC running X Windows.
And a dmesg(1) tells you what?
Does this have a sound card? Does it just try to play through the speakers?
(through clicking fast)?

Well, digital sound really IS just a lot of clicks, maybe your ears are
