2.4.3b3 doesn't really exist as far as I can see, at least not
officially. It's not been tagged in the CVS repository. "amanda243b2"
is the latest tag. There has been a "2.4.3b3" value placed in the
configure.in AM_INIT_AUTOMAKE() macro, but that would indicate you're
running an arbitrary cut taken from the head of the branch tagged
"amanda-243-branch".

Yes, I do see the amanda-2.4.3b3.tar.gz file sitting on the FTP server,
and it's been there for a while, but you cannot compare it to anything
except itself. There's even a commit message that claims the release
has been made, though oddly the rest of their release procedure was not
followed to complete the process. I don't know if the missing tag was
just an oversite, or not, but there have been other changes made on the
amanda-243-branch since that file was generated and another tar.gz file
generated the same way would claim to be the same release but would
obviously not be identical to it.

So, what I'm saying here is to be careful about what you call "amanda
2.4.3b3"! Presumably you mean the code from the file generated March
9th that sits on the FTP server.

2.4.3b2 is really not the "development" version -- more like the latest
"stable" version (i.e. it's from the latest release branch).

"development" would be 2.5.x -- i.e. what's on the trunk. ;-)
