Yeah, it's quite annoying.

Nope. It happens to me with those window managers you say, but I have tested
under gnome, with sawfish wm, and it does not happend. I get some cuts, but=
 that
is because cpu is too busy.

No idea. If it does not happen in OpenBSD, it can be a xmms problem or a dr=
iver
problem. Although, xmms is also known to have some problems under WindowMak=
er.
