netbsd-users: problems with Dell-branded 3com card

I tried a borrowed Dell (really 3Com, from the label) Ethernet pcmcia 
card today, and got the following error on 1.5.3rc1:

ex0 at cardbus0 dev 0 function 0: 3Com 3c575CT Ethernet
ex0: MAC address 00:01:03:a8:ab:2f
ex0: can't allocate download descriptors, error = 12

What does that mean?  Any workarounds?
