And it changed with new kernels. I got confused by a new 
kernel where before the nic in the first PCI Bus was eth0 and 
the  nic in the second PCI bus was eth1, and after the 
installation of the new kernel that had changed. I was really 
happy as the machine was managed over the network and I had to 
drive there to examine the problem.
