I just tried this on:

NetBSD roothog.rmkhome.com 1.5ZB NetBSD 1.5ZB (ROOTHOG) #56: Sun Mar 10 13:09:41 MST 2002     rmk@roothog.rmkhome.com:/usr/src/sys/arch/i386/compile/ROOTHOG i386

I was able to successfully format a Sony MFD-2DD floppy. I was also able to
write a file to the floppy with tar and read it back. The drive is a standard,
cheap 1.44 meg floppy drive.
