Then they should create a document in the perferred mechanism and
make reference to it via URL as supporting information for the rest
of their plaintext email.
I don't want multi-megabyte email messages going through any of my mail-
servers and then being exploded to tens of thousands of subscribers to
my mailing lists, just because some microsoft weenor saw fit to drag
an insignificant icon into a mail message.

Is this a troll? Of course M$ is evil. what you're describing above
is not a serious departure from things M$ has done that have been well
documented in various legal proceedings and by leaked internal memos
and emails.
But it's not really relevant to this list so if you feel compelled to
discuss that, then you should probably do so privately. (though I
don't really feel compelled to collect a bunch of information that
you can already gather by doing a few simple google searches).
