My thinking runs along the same lines as Jim's: when I can, I buy packages
from developers in order to support them and to let them know that I
support them. I'd probably buy a copy of Staroffice from Sun if I could
get (let's say) versions for multiple platforms on a CD and a little
bit of support/docs to go with it. It'd sure save me a heck of a lot of
download time! I'd be even more inclined to buy it if X% of the money
went to fund continued development including open-source versions.
