Hi All,
I've installed -current on my workstation, which seems to run fine. Last
night I connected a diskless xterm, which gets booted via nfs from my
workstation. So far so good, I've set up gdm (also tried xdm) but I'm
experience some strange problems:
- gdm/xdm stops responding to inderect xdmcp request after a login or two
- killing gdm/xdm by pressing ctrl-alt-bkspc causes a system lock-up
My guess is that this problem is related to -current (I can log in fine for
the first time afterall, config's are included) but if possible I'd like to
get a bit more info before I start reverting to 1.5.2 ;-)
Has anyone else experienced some problems using xdm/gdm under -current, or
general X lockups?
You can easily try it when you've got X installed; log in as root and start
xdm/gdm by hand, after it comes up log in to X, log out and try to kill
xdm/gdm using ctrl-alt-bkspc. The kernel should lock up.
Also, it seems that gdm/xdm 'remembers' it's connection; whenever I reboot
the diskless terminal it stops responding to indirect xdmcp requests.
My config/version info:
bash-2.05$ X -version

That's what I get whenever xdm/gdm hangs on the server.
Thanks in advance,
