Personally, I think I'll wait for x86-64. The fine people of comp.arch
don't have a lot of good things to say about itanium, whereas they seem
to feel that hammer shows a lot of promise.

HP is selling a single 733mhz itanium box for $7000. It is slower than
a 733 PIII.

Compaq has just run into problems with stress-testing itanium, and Intel
is coming out with the next stepping. They don't know whether it will fix
the problem, but Compaq considered the problem a showstopper.
