I've found softdeps-enabled system to be painful to a degree I've
never seen with 'plain-ffs' filesystems..

I have an expendable server for a wireless network (bind, usenet,
email, blah) that I had the habit of just turning off when it wasn't
needed, and for two years it has never needed a manual fsck.

On my personal system (1.5.x, now current) I quickly stopped using
softdeps as a crash would ~90% of the time entail having to get down
into single-user mode. While there was never any serious damage, the
results of the cleanup looked like it would be only a matter of time.

In comparison, the GNU/Linux systems I'm looking after do on average
require a manual fsck once in every 7 reboots after a crash.
