As of today, the only way to get a native 1.2/1.3 JDK for
NetBSD/i386 is to do the following:

1. download the source from Sun
     (http://www.sun.com/software/communitysource/java2/)
2. get the FreeBSD patchset which also contains NetBSD support
     (http://www.eyesbeyond.com/freebsddom/java/jdk.html)
3. download/build the required 3rd party stuff (Motif, ODBC, etc)
4. patch and build

Hopefully, this will change sometime in the near future...
