I'm surprised that throughout this thread no one has mentioned 
windowmaker.  Can anyone
summarize a few window managers, and list their advantages/disadvantages 
(except KDE
and Gnome)?  I use KDE2 on pretty much all my desktops, which happened 
to be mostly
Linux (for now), but before KDE and Gnome were popular, I used windowmaker.

I used blackbox for a short time, because I thought it looked nice.  But 
I ultimately switched back
again because I was annoyed by the way windows just dissapeared once 
they were minimized (and
it seems like that is the default blackbox behavior).  I had great 
problems navigating in blackbox...

So, can anyone shortly explain the differences between the 3 (or other 
window managers)?
