both are slow. no matter what OS. if you like colorful desktops there are
probably some other wm's.
but from both of then gnome sounds better as it does not force you to use
any wm, while uses enlightment by default.

it depends how you define nice. for me nice is easy/fast to use keyboard
based without anything taking up my display space (=100% for apps).

i use fvwm2 with my own config
