Seconded.

But: there are windows programs out there, that use the rsh protocol to
access a remote tape drive on a unix machine. (One I used sometimes before
windows learned to use 32bits was called "WinTAR").

Not that I would allow such connections in a typical environment...
Maybe you find sofware nowadays that does it via ssh and uses some acceptable
authentication on the windows client.
