Oh, yeah, that's right.  Sheesh, it's been a while since I've had to use
that obscure feature of ftpd.

Funny thing, though:  not all extended messages appear to be suppressed by
this.  In particular, the FTP "exit" message (221, on a "QUIT") is still
sent with an extended message.

Hm, this is probably a bug....
