The Oxford chips have other nice features as well (versatile FIFO trigger
levels, automatic hardware RTS/CTS handshaking, interrupt for "transmitter
idle" condition etc.) which should be supported, IMHO.
There are also UART chips with 64 byte FIFOs (from Exar, at least).
