Hi,

I think this will run into one main problem: the number of different
machines NetBSD runs on. While e.g. I expect from a Atari, x86,
Alpha and Mac to have a floppy drive, I have not seen Decstations
with one (I heard that some exist, but I have never seen one). On
the other hand Ataris do not have ethernet by default. As quality and
beeing portabel is also necessary for documentation, this will end
up in (documentationwise) better or less well supported ports.

What was needed was an easy way to add platformspecific
documentation with ease to gather the information from the current
users of the OS on (hopfully) all platforms. Additionally a retrival
mechanism will be needed, so that it was possible for someone to
e.g. say "I want an installation manual for a Vax" and getting the
docs without drowning him with x86 specific stuff.

For x86 a german book ("BSD mit Methode", mentioned on the
documentation pages) that basically is exactly what you want, an
easy to understand first time user guide.
