Two comments here-
Size is not the only argument for/against a shared /*bin. Other
usability issues like dynamic nsswitch and i18n support come into
it as well.
Also, just because a binary is XXXkB, doesn't mean you need that
much memory to run the program - remember that we have demand
paging these days.
