The dropped-character rate has increased markedly over 1.4.2. I was
seeing maybe 1-2 silo overflows a day on a 115200bps connection under
1.4.2; now during particularly bad situations they're occurring up to
once a second.

(It seems every other major release since 0.9 has had bodgy serial
problems like this..)
