My tcsh's version var on NetBSD does say 8b, but I can't type umlauts or
Danish letters (åøæ). In vi I get backslash x and a hex number, but
it shows up just fine in mutt or in slrn or cat and so on. On a seperate
issue, copying a file from one of my MacOS machines to the NetBSD machine
with netatalk turns vermächnis into verm:a8chnis or something like that.
