Couldn't you start the test on all the clients ?

Ok, so the clients are all connected at 100Mbs, when the servers are also
connected at 100Mbs ?
Did you consider switching to gigabit ethernet for the server ? It's becoming
affordable now (2000FF for a netgear GA620 adapter; I don't know how much
for a gigabit module for the 6000 - a 3500 8 gigabit port is about 35000 FF).
