I'm using a NetBSD-i386 machine, v1.4.1, to connect my home network to
the Internet. My ISP is routing a 8-node (6 usable) subnet to it over a
28.8 USR internal modem. I'm using demand dialing.

My problem is that once the link is connected, it tends to stop talking
after a few minutes. Anywhere from 30 seconds to several minutes after
the link is established, it simply stops talking. The modems are still
connected, the route shows as good, but pings, or traffic of any kind,
can't go in either direction. I'm stumped, my ISP is stumped. I tried
setting my MRU/MTU down to 296 (from the default of 1500) and it
actually made it worse - the connection rarely lasts past 1 minute now.
According to ATI6 on the USR, after the call is terminated (kill -hup),
I see some few hundred BLERS, and more than 10 LINK NAKS.

Any help at all would be appreciated. I'm going to try a different modem
tonight, see if that makes a difference. I don't want to spend the cash
on a 56K, since I'm (hopefully) getting DSL in early summer.
