The cited comprison is from "The Real FreeBSD" article in Daemon news

I don't think the guy tried to defend freebsd or openbsd.
He was merely trying to refute the opinion of some linuxers that claim there
are too many different bsd's.
so he had to say something about each flavour and oversimplified things.
