Hi,

looks like I have a problem or three with "modemd" from the package
collection. This is NetBSD/i386 1.3.3, fyi.

o modemd as patched by the pkg system puts its uucp-style locks into
"/var/spool/uucp", whereas tip and cu put theirs into
"/var/spool/lock".

o While modemd is deactivated in /etc/ttys, tip can talk to the modem
just fine. As soon as I activate modemd, it seems to eat up every
second char that goes to the serial port: "at" <cr> becomes

  [hf@jump] /home/hf # tip modem
  connected
  atK
  tK
  tK

Leaving tip with ~. and restarting it gives

  [hf@jump] /home/hf # tip modem
  /dev/tty01: Device busy
  link down
  [hf@jump] /home/hf #

although there is no lock file in sight.

My configuration:
-----------------

/etc/ttys has

  tty01	"/usr/pkg/sbin/modemd safire-pppauth"	unknown on

/etc/modemd has

  # Lasat 560 voice modem.
  safire-560:\
	:is=Z0X1:\
	:pa=none:lp=/usr/bin/login:hf:bt#8:br#57600:\
	:ba=NetBSD:

  safire-pppauth:\
	:pa=none:br#57600:lu=nobody:\
	:lp=/usr/bin/login:dl:pp=/usr/sbin/pppd:tc=safire-560:

/etc/remote has

  modem:\
	:dv=/dev/tty01:br#57600:pa=none:dc:

Any experience out there with modemd and 1.3.x?
