I found the xisp package really handy for this. You may also need to
set up a /etc/ppp/pap-secrets or chap-secrets file (depending on the auth
protocol needed, i don't know what CompuServe use). It's easy:
it's just a file with 3 entries on one line:
<your account> * <your passwd>
(it's from memory, so I may have got the order wrong).
