I use a laserjet 4P (non-Postscript) connected to a NetBSD/i386 system
through the *parallel port*.  When I sent a query like yours to the
list, someone sent a very simple output filter program which works
with the parallel port which I've used since then.  the driver should,
in theory, work with any PCL printer.. and I believe most of the
inkjets are PCL, too..

Disclaimer: I work for HP, so I'm biased about which printer you
should buy.. :-)
