Oh, I see.  Top thinks your terminal isn't capable of "advanced screen
control".  Set TERM=3Ddumb on any terminal, and it will exhibit the same
behaviour...  Yeah, it's probably something to do with the linux termcap
entry on the NetBSD machine.  Compare your termcap on the linux machine to
the NetBSD one - maybe the netbsd one is missing something that causes top
to think linux is "dumb".
