This is the default behavior for top in a term-type that it does not
know how to control. If you are logging into the NetBSD machine from a
Linux box that is saying that it's TERMTYPE is 'linux' then the NetBSD
box may not know how to control a 'linux' console. Try setting your
TERMTYPE to vt100 and try again.
