Hmm... try inserting this line at the top of the ip-up file:
#!/bin/sh

I dunno about sendmail... are you planning on having mail going directly
to your machine? If you have a static IP address and a real hostname,
things work just fine, but if your address and hostname change, it
probably won't work right without some extra configuration. Last time I
tried, whenever mail came in, it bounced back with some sort of mail
configuration error ("mail loops back to myself" or something like that). 
Apparently, it wasn't happy that the address in the To: header was
something like khym@max1-239.aip.bga.com, but my hostname was set to
spiff.metonymy.com. Sendmail wanted to forward the mail onto max1-239, but
after looking it up, it turned out to be its own address or something.
Anyways, I never figured out what to do :)
